Author's Corner: Margaret Brownley

Welcome to Author's Corner hosted by Bookworm NationKatie's Clean Book Collection and KJ's Book Nook! Once a month we will feature either a favorite author or new to us author. We will share the author's bio, one of our favorite books of theirs and a review. Each of us will be featuring a different author each month so there will also be links to each of our posts.

For this month's Author's Corner I am going to choose...

BEST-SELLING AUTHOR MARGARET BROWNLEY has penned more than forty novels and novellas. Her books have won numerous awards, including Readers’ Choice and Award of Excellence. She’s a former Romance Writers of American RITA® finalist and has written for a TV soap.  She is currently working on a new series.  Not bad for someone who flunked eighth grade English.  Just don’t ask her to diagram a sentence. Happily married to her real-life hero, Margaret and her husband live in Southern California.

I stumbled upon Ms. Brownley's books about three years ago. Not sure how I discovered her, but I picked up High Button Shoes I was hooked right off the bat. Fun western settings, humor and romance. I've read about ten of her books so far, but plan on reading all of them. I have a bit of catching up to do, but it's a challenge I look forward to accomplishing. I really do enjoy her books and storytelling. The books I've read so far have all be fun reads with likable characters and fun romances. She's re-written some of her earlier works to be "clean" versions, and some have Christian elements, but of the ones I've read its pretty mild and not "preachy" IMO. Just good clean western fun! haha

Ms. Brownley has quite a few series to choose from, and went with the first book I read of hers, High Button Shoes.

This one grabbed me right from the start and I had a hard time putting it down. The story and characters were engaging and I enjoyed the unique plot of the heroine being a shoe maker. When Maggie’s husband became ill she had him teach her his shoemaking business. When he passes away she uses it as a way to support her two children. I liked Maggie, she has a lot of spunk and is always trying to do the right thing. I liked Dominick quite a bit, he loved to tease Maggie about him being an outlaw. They are forced into a fake relationship and it was fun to watch the sparks fly. I thought the story was fun and kept me entertained.
