2018 Swoony Awards

What are the Swoony Awards?
The Swoony Awards are a reader’s choice award recognizing excellence in clean secular romance fiction. We wanted a way to show our appreciation to these awesome authors who write the kind of books that we love. It’s also a great way to find new books and a good go-to when looking for something fun to read.

What books are eligible for a Swoony Award?
-ONLY books PUBLISHED December 1, 2017 – November 30, 2018 are eligible. Please DOUBLE check publication dates before nominating books!

-Books must be published or have arc reviews before nomination. Since the award is based on readers having actually read and enjoyed the book(s) they are voting for, the book has to have been published or arcs read in order to receive votes.

-Intimacy: No sex, no/low closed door/fade-to-black, no/low innuendo, nothing crude or crass.

-Language: None/mild (No F words or other explicit language) nothing overly crude.

-Violence: Mild/low.

-Page Count: Novellas or Novels only, 100 pages or higher, no short stories this year.

-Age: Only Young Adult, New Adult and Adult, NO children’s or middle grade.

-Other: No Christian fiction, where religion is the main focus of the story.

Where do you vote for the Swoony Awards?
On Goodreads! If you don't have an account it is really easy to sign up for one! And it's an AMAZING place to keep track of which books you have read, which books you want to read and of course see all kinds of reviews on books!

We are SO excited for this year's Swoony Awards! You can click here and go straight to our list! Head on over, check out the list and if there are any books on there that you have read and LOVED then make sure you VOTE! If you have read a book that is eligible but has not been added yet then make sure you VOTE to add it to the list for everyone to see! But make sure you check the entire list before voting. Again, please make sure to DOUBLE check the eligibility before voting!

How to vote or nominate a book?
Voting is easy, once you're on the 2018 Swoony Award list, you'll see just below the title of the book a tab "Vote For This Book", simply click on that and you're all set. Remember- You can vote for up to 100 books!
If you've read a great book and its not on the list, its easy to add. Just click on the tab - Add Books To This List. It will bring you to this page...

You can add book directly from one of your Goodreads shelves, or you can click on search and add books by title or author. Once you've found the right book, just click Vote for This Book and it will get added to the list. Just make sure it meets the above criteria.

If you want to return to the main list, just click on the All Votes tab and you'll be returned to the main list.

One last thing...

Note to Authors: If you’ve written a book that matches the above criteria fill free to nominate it for a Swoony. Help bring awareness to your nomination. We are doing some promoting, but sometimes a newsletter, Facebook, Twitter or blog post directly from the author is the best way to let your fan base know your book has been nominated and help it get all the votes it can get.

Note to Voters: This is a great way to let authors know you appreciate all their hard work. You can vote for up to 100 books on the list. Yes, you read that right, you can vote for 100 books! If you're like me, you'll probably read a lot of great books this year, so no worries about having to vote for just one. Be sure and check back throughout the year and keep the votes coming. I know the authors appreciate it and we do too! We’ve also learned that the order you rank the books you vote on does affect the overall score of the book. So take a minute and make sure you have your books in the order you want them.

Invite your friends to vote! Voting ends December 31, 2018. So what are you waiting for?! Let's show all these AMAZING authors how much we love them AND their books! Ready?! GO VOTE!

Sweet Morsels Monday

We are so excited for our first annual
Have Yourself a Very Swoony Christmas event,

Welcome to Sweet Morsels Monday!
Mondays can be rough, but nothing can make it better than something sweet.
Each Monday, we'll be sharing a Christmas treat recipe.
Aren't Christmas treats the best?!

For the second week,
KJ will be sharing one of the newest additions to her Christmas treats.

**I am a HUGE peanut cluster fan and a HUGE Rocky Road ice cream fan! So imagine my surprise when I discovered a Rocky Road Peanut Clusters! I just HAD to try them! So I went out the very next day and got all the ingredients. One word... AMAZING! Not only are the super yummy but they are super easy! I hope you guys love them!**

Rocky Road Peanut Clusters

Ingredients:

1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
1 cup butterscotch chips
1 tbsp vegetable oil OR shortening
1½ cups roasted, lightly salted peanuts
1½ cups miniature marshmallows

Instructions:

1. Line a large baking sheet with waxed paper.
2. Melt chocolate chips, butterscotch chips and vegetable oil together in a large microwave-safe container. I used a Pyrex glass bowl.
3. Heat on high for 30 seconds, stir, repeat, until chips are melted and smooth.
4. Quickly stir in the peanuts and marshmallows.
5. Drop spoonfuls of the mixture onto the waxed paper. You can make them as large or as small as you like.
6. Let set up in the refrigerator for 15 minutes before packing. Store leftovers (ha!) in an airtight container.

Don't these look and sound amazing?! Let me know what you think if you try them!

Kathy's Choice Award
Royal Date by Sariah Wilson

It was super hard narrowing down my number one pick this year. I guess that's a good problem to have. I ended up choosing Royal Date, because I just really loved this book. The writing and characters grabbed me, I loved the setting and just everything about it. It's one of those books where you get a reader's high, you get sucked in and don't want the story to end. I read Sariah's YA novel awhile ago and when I heard she had a new book coming out I couldn't wait to read it. I am so happy she has more great books like this in store for us.

Kathy Jo's Choice Award
Jessie Belle by Jennifer Peel

There were so many amazing books published in 2015 that narrowing down my choices was just a tad bit difficult. After re-reading all my reviews there was one book that just stood out among the rest... Jessie Belle by Jennifer Peel. This book was seriously AMAZING! I had a very hard time putting it down! Jennifer has an amazing ability to suck you in from the very beginning and refuses to let you go until the very end. Her writing has me feeling like I am right there with the characters, living their lives right along with them. Jessie Belle is filled with unconditional love, second chances, courage, strength, hope and even a bit of humor. And of course we can't forget about the Swoonworthy moments throughout the book. I found myself letting out little dreamy sighs along the way. I loved every minute of it! <3 nbsp="" p="">

Katie's Choice Award
The Kiss that Launched 1000 GIFs by Sheralyn Pratt

I chose The Kiss That Launched 1000 GIFs by Sheralyn Pratt because I loved the cleverly written story and the characters! Grace and Ashton have personality galore and they are strong, yet perfectly imperfect. I adored the supporting characters as well--especially Esme, Grace's best friend, and Megan, Ashton's niece. Both say it like it is and are totally sassy spitfires. I felt like I was watching this story unfold on social media, right along with the rest of the world--the book world, that is (sometimes I forget these people and places aren't real). I love a good, clean romance and this one had that with an added dash of spice, which made it even better.

Heidi's Choice Award
Free Fallin' by Shannon Guymon

We are looking forward to the 2016 Swoony Awards and hope that you will be joining us again this year! Please feel free to join our groups (Goodreads and Facebook) and follow us on Twitter (@swoonyawards)! Help us spread the word about good, clean, swoony romance books!

Happy New Year and Happy Reading!
