Monthly Swoons - January 2021

It's been a long while since I've done my monthly favorite posts. I thought it would be a fun one to start up again for 2021!! There are so many great books that come out throughout the year, I'd like another fun way to share them with everyone.

I was a little surprised by how much I was able to actually read in January! NINETEEN books, I was able to get through! I was hoping to make an even 20 so maybe I can squeeze in a quick novella tonight before bed. There were a few books that really stood out to me this month, ones I had to encourage my friends to read and ended up doing a few buddy reads which is always so much fun.

So the books I loved the most this month were....

The Promised Prince by Kortney Keisel

I couldn't put this one down. Its a super fun dystopian novel (that feels a lot like a High Fantasy novel lol), with a super swoony romance, fun setting, unexpected twists and just overall enjoyable read. I like that this series each book can stand on its own. Would definitely recommend this one. And isnt that cover great?

Fate Calling by Lindsay Grace

This debut novel totally swept me into another world. I quickly got sucked into this world and characters and couldn't turn the pages fast enough. I am eagerly awaiting the release of the next book in the series. Also, another great cover!!

Magic Forged by K.M. Shea

This was such a fun series! I really loved the characters and worldbuilding, I do wish the romance had been amped up a bit, its pretty slow-burn, but still works well in the context of the story. I loved the urban fantasy setting and look forward to more series set in this universe. Really fun read!

Enough about me!!
What were your favorite books you read in January?

Swoon Worthy Spotlight - June & July

Welcome to Swoony Worthy Spotlights, hosted by Bookworm NationKatie's Clean Book Collection and KJ's Book Nook! Swoon Worthy Spotlights features 1-3 of our favorite books that we have read during the month. We will share the cover(s), our review(s) and a link to each other's post so you can check out which books we have all chosen!

I really did a LOT of reading this month. It was awesome! After taking a few months off of reading, it was fun to jump back in. I was on a regency kick for awhile, but also squeezed in some contemporaries and a little medieval fiction. Since I did read a little in June, but didn't post about it, I thought I'd include a couple favs for June and July. So, in random order here are my favorites...

Wow, I haven't done one of these posts since March! I really haven't done much reading this year. Thankfully, the past couple weeks I have really gotten back into it! I owe it probably to Sariah Wilsons book, #Moonstruck! Which totally got me in the mood again. I've actually been on a regency kick lately as well. So here were my three favorite books this month.

Traditional Regency Romance
Publication: February 23, 2015

Regency Romance
Publication: December 1, 2017

Contemporary Romance
Publication: July 17, 2018

Swoon Worthy Spotlight - March

Welcome to Swoony Worthy Spotlights, hosted by Bookworm NationKatie's Clean Book Collection and KJ's Book Nook! Swoon Worthy Spotlights features 1-3 of our favorite books that we have read during the month. We will share the cover(s), our review(s) and a link to each other's post so you can check out which books we have all chosen!

I only read one book in March, can that be right? I didn't realize it until I went to write this post, but it turns out I was only able to read one book. At least it was totally an awesome and amazing book! March was a crazy busy month, with sick kiddos and life going on I just didn't have much time to read. I *think* things are getting back to normal and hopefully April I can make up all the reading time I missed and catch up on my massive TBR pile. Anyway, the book I read in March is one I would have totally done a spotlight for no matter what...

Serendipity, Book One
Regency Romance

I wasn't able to read as much as I wanted in February, but the books I did read were all good. I'm hoping in March I can really buckle down and read a lot, especially from the 2018 Swoony list, there are a lot of great books on there just begging me to read them. So, my picks for February are...

Lightning Struck by Nichole Van
Brothers Maledetti, Book Three
Urban Fantasy

Wroth the Risk by Heather B Moore
Pine Valley, Book One
Contemporary Romance

The end of the year is always a busy time, I read a lot of Christmas books and may have gotten a little burned out. Took some time off from reading so I could actually get through the holidays, which was nice because now that I'm back at it, I have a ton of great books to look forward to. January really started out great as far as books go. I may not have read as much as I would like, but I was able to read some fantastic books, but my very favorite was...

#Starstruck by Sariah Wilson
#Lovestruck, Book One
Contemporary Romance

The Ugly Stepsister Strikes Back
By Sariah Wilson
YA Contemporary Romance

Pimpernel by Sheralyn Pratt
Contemporary Romance - Mystery

So, a couple of those are re-reads, but they were just as good the second time around.

November was a great reading month for me! I finally got back into my reading groove and found some great books along the way. It was hard narrowing it down to just my top favorites, but here are the ones that really stood out for me!

by Sariah Wilson
Contemporary-Regency Time Travel Romance

by Rebecca Connolly, Nichole Van, Janelle Daniels
Traditional Regency Romance

I really enjoyed both of these, especially if you're a fan of regencies!

Sadly, it's been a couple months since I've done one of these. We had a rather busy summer and I haven't been reading as much as I used to. Luckily, things have settled down and I'm finally getting back into reading and have a huge stack of awesome books waiting for me. I only read about ten books this month, but it was still hard narrowing it down to just a couple favorites. I really enjoyed them all. But, these two really stood out for me...

Traditional Regency Romance
Tanglewood Romance - Book Three

Contemporary Romance
A Georgia Moon Romance - Book Three

Wow, May was a busy month! I never realized how the end of the school year can be so full of things that need to be done, a lot of which I just didn't get too. I didn't have a lot of free time to read this month, and ended up squeezing in a lot of novellas along the way, here were my favorites for May!

Swoony Spotlights - April

Welcome to Swoony Worthy Spotlights, hosted by Bookworm NationKatie's Clean Book Collection and KJ's Book Nook! Swoon Worthy Spotlights features 1-3 of our favorite books that we have read during the month. We will share the cover(s), our review(s) and a link to each other's post so you can check out which books we have all chosen!

April has been full of regency reads for me, and it's been awesome. I love this genre, the time period and storylines are always so much fun. To be honest, it can be hard to find good regencies out there, but when you do find a good one...sigh, it's heaven. Here are a few that really stood out to me...

by Karen Tuft
Traditional Regency Romance

This is not only a favorite for this month, but an overall favorite for me. This truly captured the regency feel, loved the characters and was pleasantly surprised by how much I enjoyed it! A bit of a forbidden-love story, with charming characters.

A Lady of Esteem (Hawthorn House, Prequel)
by Kristi Ann Hunter
Regency Romance

Adorable! I really enjoyed this lighthearted regency. Endearing characters and a fun plot. A great introduction to the series (which I read out of order). One of my favorite things in novels is a funny "meet cute" and this one was great!

An Elegant Façade (Hawthorn House, #2)
by Kristi Ann Hunter
Regency Romance

Great character development and an interesting story. I always enjoy the whole "enemies to lovers" plots and thought it was really well done in this one. Great read and a fun regency series overall.

Secrets of a Spinster (Arrangements, #3)
by Rebecca Connolly
Regency Romance

Friends to lovers trope, and my favorite of the Arrangement series, I loved the characters and story. I thought it was well written and kept me glued to the pages.  Looking forward to many more books by Ms. Connolly.

Swoony Spotlights - March

Welcome to Swoony Worthy Spotlights, hosted by Bookworm NationKatie's Clean Book Collection and KJ's Book Nook! Swoon Worthy Spotlights features 1-3 of our favorite books that we have read during the month. We will share the cover(s), our review(s) and a link to each other's post so you can check out which books we have all chosen!

March was a great reading month for me, there were so many fun books I was able to find. Here are two of my favorite contemporaries and two of my favorite historicals for the month (in random order).

by Cami Checketts
Contemporary Romance

This was such a pleasant surprise for me. I really, really enjoyed it. Cute "fake relationship" plot, with fun characters and swoony romance. Not sure I love the cover/title, but the book is definitely reading.

by Jennifer Peel
Contemporary Romance

Another great addition to the Peel library. This has the whole "friend first" storyline that really has you rooting for these two to figure things out. Great storytelling and a fun, swoony romance.

by Nancy Campbell Allen
Steampunk Paranormal Historical Romance

Lets see, a steampunk paranormal retelling of Beauty and the Beast.... yes, please! This was a lot of fun. Great leading characters with a great romance and fun mystery. This one sucked me in at page one and I had a hard time putting it down.

by Anne Gracie
Traditional Regency Romance

This one was a surprise, it is filled with memorable scenes, some funny, some swoony. The leads are both strong characters and it's fun to watch the battle of wits play out. I really loved the romance in this one, slow building and believable. (Content- this is more on the steamy clean side, no sex scenes)

February was a great month, I was able to read a lot and found a few favorites that I look forward to reading again. I read so many good ones I ended up having a hard time narrowing it down this month. So, to make it a little easier I am sticking to just new releases, full-length novels, and I went with a favorite in Contemporary, Historical and YA. In random order:

The Thirteenth Chance by Amy Matayo
Contemporary Romance

This is a super cute opposites attract, fake relationship story. The characters have great chemistry and really bring out the best in each other. Lots of fun.

By Your Side by Kasie West
YA Contemporary Romance

This is such a fun young adult novel. I don't read a lot of these anymore, but I can never resist Ms. West's books. This had a super fun story with likable characters and a unique plot. Enjoyable for adults and YAs.

The Rise of Miss Notley by Rachael Anderson
Regency Historical

Sigh, I love a good regency romance. This one takes place at a charming country manor, with likable characters and a really fun plot. Great chemistry and a fun step back in time. Great read.

Swoon Worthy Spotlights

Welcome to another one of our new Book Blog Memes hosted by Bookworm NationKatie's Clean Book Collection and KJ's Book Nook! Swoon Worthy Spotlights features 1-3 of our favorite books that we have read during the month. We will share the cover(s), our review(s) and a link to each other's post so you can check out which books we have all chosen!

So... without further adieu... our first...

Swoon Worthy Spotlights!

For my first Swoon Worthy Spotlights I am going to choose...

Enclave by Ann Aguire
Razorland, Book One

A Christmas Kiss by Susan Hatler
Kissed By The Bay, Book Five

So, I had sort of made a goal to read a book a day in January, didn't quite turn out that way (read around seven. Haha, so I didn't even come close, life got in the way. While I enjoyed the books I read, I also didn't have any five star reads (although I'm sure other would have rated them five stars). Here's hoping February will be full of five star reads (already off to a good start).
