My book club will be meeting next week (we'll be discussing Secret Life of Bees and Pride & Prejudice). While there we will also be discussing which books we want to read in 2009. I would love to have some suggestions on which books you've read and loved or ones that you want to read. Please leave a comment with any book ideas that you have. Thanks!

As far as ones I think would play well with book groups, most recently I've really enjoyed Silent in the Grave by Deanna Raybourn and A Curse Dark as Gold by Elizabeth C. Bunce. The first is a Victorian mystery (first in a series) and the second is a retelling of Rumpelstiltskin set in pre-Industrial England. Both wonderful.
ReplyDeleteAny books by Jodi Picoult are probably obvious, but I'm sure you'd get a lot to discuss.
ReplyDeleteIf you don't mind creepy novels, Sharp Objects by Gillian Flynn has a lot you could talk about! It's one crazy novel, but I loved it.
Umm...for classics. I love The Picture of Dorian Gray by Oscar wilde and the play by him The Important of Being Earnest...fast read, but fun!
