The Seat Filler by Sariah Wilson

The Seat Filler: A NovelThe Seat Filler: A Novel by Sariah Wilson
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Warning- lots of great chemistry, romantic banter, scrumptious hero and endearing heroine

This may be Sariah's best book yet, and that's saying a lot because all her books are so good! I can't even form words, I just want to go and read the book again. Loved the storyline, loved the characters, loved all the swoony, and I mean S.W.O.O.N.Y. kisses! Did I mention the swoony kisses? But seriously, the love story is so great. Noah and Juliet have great chemistry, fun banter and a genuine connection.

Y'all need to pre-order your copies right now. Like drop everything, you will not want to miss out on this book. I'll write a full review closer to release date, after I've probably read it a few more times. *happy sigh*

Roommaid by Sariah Wilson

Roommaid: A NovelRoommaid: A Novel by Sariah Wilson
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I can always count on Ms. Wilsons books, full of likable characters, fun plots and swoony romance! I was so excited when I won an advanced copy and received it right before a little vacation my family was going on. It was the perfect read for a long drive and relaxing by the pool.

This is a riches-to-rags type story as our heroine Madison, is cut-off from her very wealthy family when she decides to live her own life by becoming an elementary school teacher! Something that is just not allowed for a Huntington.

I enjoyed the unique premise for this story, how Madison and Tyler were roommates before being friends or more. I thought it was well written and engaging. I enjoyed following Madison on her journey and seeing how everything plays out. I hope we get books about her two best friends as well. Great book!

Welcome to Swoony Worthy Spotlights, hosted by Bookworm NationKatie's Clean Book Collection and KJ's Book Nook! Swoon Worthy Spotlights features 1-3 of our favorite books that we have read during the month. We will share the cover(s), our review(s) and a link to each other's post so you can check out which books we have all chosen!

I really did a LOT of reading this month. It was awesome! After taking a few months off of reading, it was fun to jump back in. I was on a regency kick for awhile, but also squeezed in some contemporaries and a little medieval fiction. Since I did read a little in June, but didn't post about it, I thought I'd include a couple favs for June and July. So, in random order here are my favorites...

Wow, I haven't done one of these posts since March! I really haven't done much reading this year. Thankfully, the past couple weeks I have really gotten back into it! I owe it probably to Sariah Wilsons book, #Moonstruck! Which totally got me in the mood again. I've actually been on a regency kick lately as well. So here were my three favorite books this month.

Swoony Award Monthly Round-up!

We're two months into the Swoony Awards, although it officially kicked off in January we're accepting nominations for books published in December. I thought it'd be fun at the end of each month to do a little "round up" and see how many books have been nominated and how many voters we've had. January was a great month, lots of fun participation and interactions.

Here's the stats for January:

Books Nominated: 53

Number of Voters: 122

There are a TON of great books on the list so far, I was able to read and nominate seven books! I look forward to reading many more. 2018 is going to be a great year for secular romance!

So, what about you? Have you voted? If not, vote here

Swoon Worthy Spotlight - January

We will share the cover(s), our review(s) and a link to each other's post so you can check out which books we have all chosen!

The end of the year is always a busy time, I read a lot of Christmas books and may have gotten a little burned out. Took some time off from reading so I could actually get through the holidays, which was nice because now that I'm back at it, I have a ton of great books to look forward to. January really started out great as far as books go. I may not have read as much as I would like, but I was able to read some fantastic books, but my very favorite was...

#Starstruck by Sariah Wilson
#Lovestruck, Book One
Contemporary Romance

The Ugly Stepsister Strikes Back
By Sariah Wilson
YA Contemporary Romance

Pimpernel by Sheralyn Pratt
Contemporary Romance - Mystery

So, a couple of those are re-reads, but they were just as good the second time around.

#BookLove #BookHangOver #FavoriteCouple #SwoonyRomance #AmazingWriting #StayedUpTooLate #BookBoyfriend #MustRecommendToAllMyFriends

My first book of the new year and the bar has been set. Very high. I already had a book hangover before I even finished reading and I'm seriously contemplating reading it again when I finish writing this review. #ReadAgain #JustDoIt

Not sure if it's clear or not, but I really enjoyed this one. I can't remember the last time I read a book and had a #dopeygrin on my face for pretty much the whole thing. I was sucked into the story right from the start and just couldn't put it down. Seriously, I was #sneakinginpages while helping the kids get ready for bed, brushing my teeth or pretending to watch a TV show with the hubs. #ShhhDontTell

I thought this was (obviously) a really cute and fun book. Zoe and Chase were both very well developed, had amazing #chemistry and the sweetest romance. #Sparks fly right from the start, even before they meet and the anticipation of that first meeting was exciting and swoony. And hello, that first kiss...#WOW.

Zoe was such a likable and relatable character. I love that she was witty, smart and really stuck to her morals. And yeah, I am a total introvert so I totally got her. Chase was swoony, sweet and charming. Their relationship builds at a believable pace, I liked how they're really able to get to know each other. I liked that everything wasn't smooth sailing and they had their own obstacles to get over. I liked that his celebrity status plays a big part of the story, and seeing behind the scenes type stuff was fun. I loved how the #Tweets and #Texts were done and looked amazing.

Okay, I'll stop #gushing now and just insist that you mark your calendars for January 16th and cancel any plans you have for the day, and maybe plan on staying up a little late too. #WhoNeedsSleepAnyway

November was a great reading month for me! I finally got back into my reading groove and found some great books along the way. It was hard narrowing it down to just my top favorites, but here are the ones that really stood out for me!

by Sariah Wilson
Contemporary-Regency Time Travel Romance

by Rebecca Connolly, Nichole Van, Janelle Daniels
Traditional Regency Romance

I really enjoyed both of these, especially if you're a fan of regencies!

Once Upon a Time Travel by Sariah Wilson

Once Upon a Time TravelOnce Upon a Time Travel by Sariah Wilson
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Super fun!

This was just the distraction I needed! I thought this was a fun and unique story and was sucked in from the start. It combines my two favorite genres, contemporary and regency, into one delightful story.

After loosing her parents at a young age, Emma Damon spent her early years bouncing from one foster home to the next. Never really having an actual home to call her own. She overcomes her trials and works hard putting herself through school. After graduation college she lands an internship (or something like that) at Hartley Hall in England, she jumps at the chance and figures this will be a good chance to figure out her next step in life. She is drawn to Hartley Hall and her life is changed forever when she's snooping one night and discovers a hidden door.

From the synopsis you already know that Emma gets transported back 200 years to 1816. It's always fun to think about time-travel, wondering what it would be like to go back in time, or jump 200 years in the future! I can't even imagine what the world will be like in 2217! I think going back in time would be a little easier since we have so many books about the time period and would sort of know what to expect. I thought Ms. Wilson did a great job showing the differences between the time periods and how hard it would be to acclimate to such different customs, etc.

I loved the characters, Emma, Hartley and Aunt Charles as well as the other supporting cast. Emma is a likable heroine who is struggling to adapt to 1816 norms and give up all our modern conveniences. Harley was a great broody regency hero. There's lots of tension and chemistry between the two and of course some swoony kisses! One thing I liked that sets this apart from other regencies, is I just didn't know how it would end. The time-travel element leaves things up in the air as you read so you're never really sure if Emma will stay or go or what will happen. I liked being kept on my toes, but knew Ms. Wilson would find a way for them (and me) to get a HEA.

Overall, I really enjoyed this one and would definitely recommend to any contemporary/regency fan!

A few years ago a friend of mine recommend Sariah's YA Contemporary, The Ugly Stepsister Strikes Back to me and I was pleasantly surprised by how much I liked it.  I enjoyed it so much I immediately added Sariah to my "authors to watch" list and was constantly checking to see when her next book was coming out. Fast forward a bit and Sariah had her book, Royal Date up on the Kindle Scout program. I of course voted for it and then eagerly awaited its release. I adored the book! Sariah was immediately moved from the Authors to Watch shelf to my Favorite Authors shelf. After just two books I realized I just clicked with her writing style, characters, plots and knew I was a fan for life. Since then, she has released a few more books and I've loved each of those as well. Sariah also writes historical fiction under Sariah S Wilson.

I've been lucky to get to know Sariah when we worked on a project together awhile back and she is an amazing person. Really down to earth, kind, smart and a great example. I've really enjoyed getting to know her and maybe one day I can meet her in person!

So, if you've never read anything by Sariah before I would recommend starting with...

Royal Date is the first book in the Royals of Monterra series
 (each book can technically standalone).

Adorable!

I am such a big fan of the Royals of Monterra, it's one of my very favorite contemporary romance series. I was really excited when I found out Ms. Wilson had written a novella to go along with her series (I still need to read some of the other novellas in the Kindle Monterra World). Anyway, this was a fun addition and fits right in, but also stands very well on its own. You don't have to read the other books to enjoy this one.

Bellamy is such a sweet likable character. Very down to earth and easy to relate to. She's a bit shocked to find out she is also a Princess! Her life changes dramatically when she learns the truth about her father and that all her dreams will come true...if she agrees to star in a reality dating TV show about her quick rise to royalty. She's also not to happy to find out her handsome new bodyguard is Enzo, the guy who disappeared on her a year ago leaving her a bit broken hearted.

Bellamy and Enzo have great chemistry, not only do they have some swoony moments, but they have such a cute friendship. I really enjoyed their banter and sweetness. This was a fun novella and great escape. Have I mentioned how much I love this series yet??

Content: Clean romance, kissing. No language or violence.

Waiting on Wednesday

Waiting on Wednesday is a weekly meme hosted at Breaking the Spine, which spotlights upcoming releases that we're eagerly anticipating. My choice for this week is:

Royal Design by Sariah Wilson
Contemporary Romance
A Royals of Monterra Novella
Release Date: February 17, 2017

Synopsis: Bellamy Sullivan’s life is hardly regal. She’s a waitress from Ohio who’s been on her own since she was sixteen, working several jobs while her dreams of being a fashion designer stay just that. But everything changes when PR maven and soon-to-be-royal Lemon Beauchamp drops in to announce that Bellamy is a princess. Unfortunately, Bellamy’s newly assigned bodyguard is the last man she wants to see.

A year ago, the royal family of Monterra tasked Enzo Rannalli with confirming Bellamy’s heritage, which meant he had to get very close to her. Enzo got the confirmation he needed, but he didn’t expect their connection to be so meaningful. And he didn’t expect his sudden departure to break the young princess’s heart.

In exchange for a once-in-a-lifetime chance to kick-start her fashion career, Bellamy agrees to star on a royal reality show that will match her with the world’s most eligible bachelors. But after a series of disastrous dates make her even more grateful for Enzo’s company, she wonders if her fairy-tale ending is waiting to happen off camera.

Royal Chase by Sariah Wilson

Royal ChaseRoyal Chase by Sariah Wilson
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Loved it!

I had high expectations going into this one, I enjoyed the first book so much I was worried about whether I would enjoy this one as much...I did! I'm fairly confident to say that I'll probably end up loving everything Sariah Wilson writes. I didn't even bother reading the synopsis when I picked this one up, I just started reading. It's actually kind of fun to do that sometimes, just go into a book bling. Luckily, it ended up being one of my favorite storylines, a Bachelor-esque setting where our hero is on a reality show having to choose from a bunch of different women. I've watched the real show for years and enjoy the setting in books quite a bit. I don't know if I should be embarrassed to admit that.

Anyway, Lemon is a lovely character. I enjoyed her a lot in the first book and she grew on me even more in this one. I admit, there were times I wanted to shake her and I did get a little tired of her constantly thinking the worst of Dante when he was constantly proving himself, but I got where she was coming from and why she acted the way she did. I loved Dante, he was very swoon-worthy. The story sucked me in right from the start and as typical with a Wilson novel, I had a hard time putting it down.

Overall, a highly enjoyable read and one I would easily recommend. While it is the second book in the series, it would stand well on its own. You don't have to read the first book to enjoy this one, but I thought the first book was also a lot of fun. I look forward to reading the next one!!

Royal Date by Sariah Wilson

This Cinderella didn’t plan on a prince . . .

Kat MacTaggart is a girl who has a plan for everything—including her holiday ski trip to Monterra with her best friend. Everything is going according to plan until she finds herself careening out of control down a mountainside and being rescued by a guy who looks like Superman’s hotter Italian cousin. HRH Prince Nico is intrigued by the woman he saved on the slopes and her refusal to date him. He offers Kat a deal—let him show her his country and he’ll pay her to write articles that will help Monterra’s tourism industry. Kat agrees, but given her past and lingering distrust of men, she has one condition—absolutely no kissing. Thanks to the claims of a jealous British noblewoman and the schemes of a meddling paparazzo, Kat’s rule doesn’t seem to be a problem at first. But the more Kat gets to know Nico and the people around him, the harder it is to remember her keep-your-distance plan. Should she stick to it or risk everything for a chance at happily ever after?

Love!

I am official fan of Sariah Wilson! I love her books! I was excited when I heard about this one a few months ago and have been anxiously waiting for its release (which is still a little ways off). I won a copy from Amazon and I had to read it as soon as I got it. I was not disappointed! This was such a fun escape. Really enjoyable and kept me up way past by bedtime.

Kat was such a likable character. She had a rough childhood, but she made sure not to follow in her parents footsteps. She is determined to have a better life and to make smart choices. I really respected her for that. Nico was great as well, I love how he "got" Kat. They have a great connection and it was fun to watch their relationship grow. The side characters were also a lot of fun and added a lot to the story. I just thought this was a lot of fun and was hard to put down. In fact, once I started I couldn't put it down. The romance was great and even though they came from two very different backgrounds, you can totally see them make it as a couple. I highly recommend this to everyone!

Content
Romance: Clean, mild innuendo and kissing
Language: None that I remember
Violence: None
Other: Mild talk of drug use, in a negative light
Religious: None
Read Again: Absolutely!

This has been nominated for a 2015 Swoony Award, you can vote for it here. Seriously, read this book and then come vote for it!

The Ugly Stepsister Strikes Back by Sariah Wilson

Everyone knows how all those fairy tales go. The princess gets beautiful, nabs her prince, falls instantly in love, lives happily ever after and leaves her evil stepsisters in the dust. But what happens when you’re the ugly stepsister and your obnoxiously perfect—read pretty, smart, and, worst of all, sickeningly nice—stepsister is dating the charming, tall, devastatingly handsome guy you’ve had a thing for since you were nine years old? Quirky, artistic and snarky Mattie Lowe does not lead a charmed life. Her mother is constantly belittling her on Skype. Mercedes, the school mean girl, has made it her personal mission to torment Mattie. But worst of all? Her stepsister Ella is the most beautiful, popular girl in school and is dating Mattie’s secret longtime crush, Jake Kingston. Tired of being left out and done with waiting for her own stupid fairy godmother to show up, Mattie decides to change her life. She’ll start by running for senior class president against wildly popular Jake. Ella can keep her Prince Annoying. Mattie’s going to rule the school. And no one, not even a cute and suddenly flirty Jake, is going to stop her.
I ended up really enjoying this one. I got it when it was a kindle freebie and I'm not sure why I waited so long to read it. I liked Mattie. She starts with a low self-esteem, but I like how she sticks up for herself and stands up for what she believes in. She just doesn't see herself the way other people do. To say she was obsessed with Jake would be a it of an understatement, but I liked how even though she was all swoony about him, she still didn't let him push her around. I just thought this was a fun Cinderella type stories. It had fun characters, a good plot and was well written. I thought it had a good message about believing in yourself, taking risks and standing up for what you believe in. I liked the relationship between Ella and Mattie, and how supportive Ella was of Mattie. She was just a cool chick. I liked Jake, he was a fun character.

Overall, this was a fun, heartwarming type book. One I would easily recommend to anyone, especially teens. It's really hard to find good clean teen-lit now days and I was glad to have found this one.
